Margie
Robinson, GRI
Owner of CENTURY 21 The Professional Group
In 1977, the Robinson family moved to Storm Lake, Iowa. It was a
tough job finding a home. No one was interested in renting to
a young family
with kids and pets. The Realtor I worked with showed us the only 3
houses in our price range. We were unaware other realtors might
have had other
homes listed in our price range. There was no multiple listing service.
My husband and I were discouraged, so we bought the "lesser of the
3 evils".
After settling into our new home, I started job hunting and noticed an
ad - WANTED: REAL ESTATE AGENT, WILL TRAIN. Remembering our experience
in moving, I said "there must be an easier way" for people
to find a place to live. And the rest is history!
After obtaining my Real Estate Sales License, I worked for another company
for a short time before joining the Wyatt Yon Agency as a sales associate.
Based on a need I knew first hand, I helped establish the Storm Lake
Board of Realtors and Multiple Listing Service.
Establishing a reputation for helping first time home buyers helped
to build a large clientele of repeat buyers and sellers. It is a great
satisfaction to be recommended to the children of some of my first customers,
as well as to their family and friends.
In 1986, the agency purchased a CENTURY 21 franchise and became known
as CENTURY 21 Wyatt Yon Realty.
After managing the CENTURY 21 Wyatt Yon Agency for several years, I
purchased the company from Wyatt Yon in May of 1998, maintaining the
same location and same quality service.
In August of 1999 we moved to a new location which provides more exposure,
easier access, better parking for our clients and larger office space
for our staff. The name was changed to CENTURY 21 The Professional Group
to better reflect the type of service we strive to provide.
I am a member of the NATIONAL
ASSOCIATON OF REALTORS, IOWA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS and THE UNITIED
COUNTIES BOARD OF REALTORS. I've served as
our local multiple listing service chairperson, as chairperson for the
Regional Professional Standards Committee and also held the positions
of president, secretary and treasurer for the Storm Lake Board of Realtors
and the United Counties Board of Realtors. I am a board member for Faith
Hope & Charity, and the Storm Lake Chamber of Commerce, Storm Lake
Ambassadors, Wa-tan-ye and Business and Professional Women.
Over the years, I've been deeply involved in volunteer work for the
Storm Lake community. In 1996 I received the Storm Lake Chamber of Commerce
Salute to Women Award for Community Involvement. In 1999 I was awarded
the Sam Walton Business Leader Award, which is awarded for Service to
the customer, respect for the individual and striving for excellence.
When I am not working, I enjoy travelling, being outside, spending time
with my grandchildren, painting (walls) and papering.
My Personal Mission Statement
To serve the public in a professional, friendly manner, providing unequated
service. My goal is to help make the home buying and selling process
as smooth as possible for each of our customers and clients. Whether
you are buying your first home, a home on the lake or a retirement home,
CENTURY 21 the Professional Group wants to be your real estate company
for life.
